‘Balance of power has shifted’: Yemen's top brass warns of decisive response to any adventurism
Senior Yemeni military commanders warn Saudi Arabia that the balance of power has shifted in the region, saying the country has “destructive weapons” at its disposal and that any hostile adventurism would provoke an immediate and decisive response.
In a joint congratulatory message on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBHU) on Monday evening, Yemeni Defense Minister Major General Mohammed Nasser al-Atifi and Chief of Staff of the Yemeni Armed Forces Major General Youssef Hassan al-Madani stated that all Yemeni military divisions are at the apex of their combat preparedness and are ready to carry out any order to alter the balance of battle.
“The Saudi-Israeli-American enemy and their mercenaries must realize that their old equations are now threadbare and no longer effective. Yemen, which was once surrounded by enemies, has now turned into a major power. It has imposed a blockade on enemies and sent shivers down their spines,” the message read.
The top Yemeni brass further noted that the country’s armed forces have strengthened their deterrence and defense power, and that all options are on the table.
“The slightest folly by enemies or their mercenaries will be met with a firestorm that will bring nothing but regret to adversaries,” they stated.
“The balance of power has completely changed. Yemen, thanks to reliance on homegrown capabilities and expertise, has acquired such destructive weapons that will force aggressors to pay a heavy price. There is no room for retreat or compromise. The future belongs to a free and independent Yemen,” the message also read.
The senior Yemeni military commanders emphasized that any new adventure to deprive the nation of its rights will be met with a deterrent military action that will change the balance of power in West Asia.
They also emphasized that Yemeni armed forces are fully prepared to engage in any form of military confrontation, and will not stop their struggle until an outright victory is achieved.
“Our forces are closely monitoring all enemy movements, and our fingers are on the trigger. Yemen will no longer serve as a battlefield, but will rather be a graveyard for all conspirators and a hell for all aggressors,” the two senior Yemeni military commanders concluded.
On July 20, the Sana’a government declared a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia, saying that the Riyadh authorities have maintained “an unjust and oppressive siege” on Yemen for nearly 12 years, “exploiting our resources and imposing a complete blockade.”
The Yemeni armed forces have subsequently announced many successful missions targeting Saudi-linked vessels in the Red Sea.
