Iranian 'legitimate demands'
The general staff of the Iranian armed forces says the country will secure people’s demand to defeat the US-Israeli enemy in the region and restore the rights of the nation. In a statement, the top military body referred to the US aggression against Iran, saying the armed forces have stood up to the best-equipped army in the world and have brought its leaders to their knees. The general staff of the armed forces said Iranians have held over 160 nights of street rallies to call for firm resistance against the bullying and excessive demands of the US terrorist government. The body vowed to force the enemy to accept Iran’s demands. It called the demands legitimate and vowed not to back down.
Israel Lebanon strikes
There is still no end in sight to Israeli aggression against Lebanon, with more civilians killed in strikes on towns and villages across the country’s south. In the latest attacks, a drone dropped explosive materials on the Ali al-Taher area. A Merkava tank also fired a shell at the town of al-Mansouri, while Israeli artillery earlier targeted a site near Majdalzoun. This follows Saturday’s strikes which left 11 people dead, including children. Lebanon’s Health Ministry says over 4,340 people have been killed and more than 12,000 wounded since Israel’s March 2nd invasion of the south.
US crackdown on migrants
A new report has revealed that Federal Immigration agents are employing new tactics to boost their arrest numbers, leading to more arrests in July than in any previous month of the Trump administration. According to the Migration Policy Institute, these tactics include arresting academics at airports and setting up checkpoints at popular areas. The Department of Homeland Security, which oversees ICE, says it arrested about 51,000 immigrants in July, up from 43,000 in June and the highest number recorded by the Trump administration. The department said that last month it arrested an average of 20-40 people per day at airports, as federal agents targeted passengers with expired visas.
