Conditions for reopening Hurmuz Strait
Iran’s foreign ministry says the country is now focused on negotiations with Oman to finalize a safe shipping route in the Straithur of Hormuz, rather than talks with the US. The spokesman, Esmaeil Baqaei, says the key waterway remains closed as a consequence of the US-Israeli aggression against Iran. Baqaei said in his weekly presser that a reopening will, therefore, hinge on the US halting and compensating for its illegal measures. He stressed that the strait will not reopen before the US agrees to Iran’s conditions. The spokesman also said regional countries must not become launching pads for attacks on Iran, and can no longer rely on the US for their security. Baqaei said the US is partially responsible for regional insecurity by offering Israel an all-out support that enabled its crimes.
Israel Lebanon aggression
Israeli forces have carried out a series of air and artillery strikes across southern Lebanon, targeting several towns and border areas. According to reports, an Israeli explosion rocked the town of Zawtar al-Sharqiyeh, while another struck Majdal Zoun. Artillery shelling also targeted the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqiyeh, as well as the southern Lebanese town of Bani Hayyan. Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that Israeli forces opened machinegun fire toward the southern town of Wadi al-Salouqi. The agency also said Israeli forces shelled the town of al-Mansouri overnight. The Israeli military issued a displacement order for residents of al-Mansouri, marking its first such directive in several weeks. According to Lebanon's Health Ministry, since March 2, Israeli attacks have killed over four,300 people and wounded more than 12,250 others.

The EU’s global warming monitor says Western Europe experienced its hottest June and July on record this year. According to the Copernicus Climate Change Service, the combined average temperature for the first two months of summer was 21.62 Celsius, beating the 2022 record for the same period. France and Spain have battled their worst infernos in living memory this summer, while other nations in Europe have also experienced serious blazes. River flows were unusually low with the Seine, Rhine and Danube particularly affected. The World Health organization says Europe is the world's fastest-warming continent and the first two months of summer have been marked by successive heat waves, scorching temperatures and bone-dry conditions.
