Arbaeen pilgrimage

Millions of Muslims from across the world have converged on Iraq’s holy city of Karbala to mark Arbaeen, which is the fortieth day following the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hossein. Black-clad mourners have gathered at the holy shrine of the third Shia Imam, paying respect to him and his ideals. A large number of the pilgrims have taken all or parts of their way to Karbala on foot. Arbaeen is also marked in Iran. People in the Iranian capital march from downtown Tehran toward the Shrine of Shah Abdol-Azim in southern parts of the city. Multiple other cities, including Arak and Gorgan, are witnessing similar marches. In the rallies attended by those who have been unable to join the Arabeen pilgrimage in Iraq, people honor the principles Imam Hossein fought for. They include standing up to oppression and resistance against injustice. Imam Hossein, the grandson of Prophet Mohamad, peace be upon him, was martyred along with his 72 companions in the battle of Karbala in 680 AD.

Slamming direct talks with Israel

The Secretary General of the Hezbollah resistance movement has rejected direct negotiations between the Lebanese government and Israel, saying all of previous talks have just brought humiliation and despair for Lebanon. Hezbollah chief Sheikh Naim Qassem added that Israel was given back-to-back concessions in such negotiations. However, Naim Qassem said Israel won’t achieve anything in practice as long as the resistance and the Lebanese people remain steadfast. The Hezbollah chief said the US-Israeli aggression today is targeting Lebanon, Iran, Gaza, Yemen and the entire region. He added that the aggression is aimed at expanding colonization and installing Israel as a vassal in the region. Qassem made the remarks on the occasion of Arbaeen. Regarding Iran, the Hezbollah Secretary-general said the Islamic Republic has remained steadfast, while the US has suffered a defeat.

Mass funeral in Gaza city

Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip have killed two more Palestinians as the regime pushes its genocide despite an almost year -long ceasefire agreed with Hamas. The victims were killed in an airstrike on a vehicle in a neighborhood southwest of Gaza City that left several others injured. Meanwhile, the regime’s forces opened fire on tents housing displaced Palestinians in an area in the southern City of Khan Yunis. Israeli forces also launched separate artillery attacks on the city’s southern and eastern areas. Israeli troopers also destroyed a residential building in the north of Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. Residential areas east of the camp were separately heavily shelled. The Israeli military has been carrying out almost daily attacks in Gaza, despite a ceasefire that took effect in October last year. The violence has killed 1,250 people. The fatalities have raised the total death toll from the regime’s genocide that began on October 20-23 to more than 73,300.
