Iraq's top political coalition condemns US-Saudi strikes, says they endanger stability
A coalition of major Iraqi Shia parties has roundly condemned the joint Saudi-US strikes against positions of the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), which killed at least 20 members of the anti-terror resistance group, warning that such attacks would jeopardize peace and stability across the region.
The Coordination Framework, which is the largest bloc in the Iraqi parliament, denounced the aerial raids as a blatant violation of Iraq's sovereignty and the sanctity of its territory, and a gross breach of the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter.
The coalition stressed that Iraq's sovereignty and security cannot be violated or undermined under any circumstances, while rejecting any attempt to turn the country into an arena for regional and international conflicts.
It expressed surprise at the attacks, arguing they happened at a time when the Iraqi government is pursuing a balanced foreign policy anchored in the enhancement of relations of cooperation and partnership with regional countries and members of the international community.
The top political coalition noted that the assaults on Iraq hinder both regional and global initiatives to defuse tensions, further exacerbate the status quo, and jeopardize peace and stability across the region.

Additionally, the spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces censured the Saudi-US attacks on PMU sites as unjustified and in violation of international norms and the principles of good neighborliness.
"Security decisions and the protection of sovereignty are the exclusive and direct responsibility of the government. Security officials are working on a plan to prevent attacks and safeguard Iraq's sovereignty," Sabah al-Nu'man said.
He underscored that the Saudi-US attacks will not deter the resolve of Iraqi security forces to continue working to preserve Iraq's sovereignty and ensure security, despite all the challenges they face.
"These attacks are unjustified and far detached from all international norms, the principles of good neighborliness, and partnerships that bind Iraq with its brethren," Nu'man stated.
The PMU, also known as Hashd al-Sha'abi, reported that its sites in the provinces of Baghdad, Wasit, Nineveh, Basra, Kirkuk, Karbala, and Diyala were attacked early on Wednesday, resulting in damage to headquarters, vehicles, and military equipment.
The anti-terror resistance force characterized the assaults as a "hazardous escalation," a "breach of Iraq's sovereignty," and an assault on the nation's official security agencies.
