CIA assessment admits US aggression against Iran has failed: Report

A new American intelligence assessment has dealt a serious blow to Washington's war narrative, concluding that continued US military aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran is unlikely to achieve any of the objectives proclaimed by the White House.

According to a report by The Washington Post, the assessment—prepared primarily by the CIA—acknowledges that despite days of relentless airstrikes, Iran remains steadfast in its positions on sanctions, its sovereign rights, and security in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

The findings came as the US entered its eleventh consecutive night of bombing Iran following President Donald Trump's unilateral declaration of the ceasefire's end.

The strikes have resulted in dozens of Iranian casualties, including children, while three US soldiers were killed by Iranian strikes over the past weekend. American forces have targeted hundreds of sites across Iran, including civilian infrastructure such as bridges, railways, and power facilities.

The war has already begun to escalate into a broader regional conflict, with Yemen implementing an all-out closure of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait at the Red Sea's opening.

The strategic Strait of Hormuz closure has driven the US strategic crude oil reserve to its lowest level since 1983, while average gas prices across the country have risen above $4 per gallon.

During a Tuesday meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, Trump renewed threats to escalate strikes on Iran.

In recent days, Trump has renewed threats to destroy all of Iran’s power stations, bridges, and energy infrastructure.

Early Wednesday morning, American forces launched new waves of terrorist attacks across multiple Iranian provinces. According to official Iranian reports, strikes targeted areas in several provinces.

In Ilam Province, the governor of Abdanan reported that American forces targeted an area outside the city with two projectiles. The attack resulted in no casualties, with emergency personnel dispatched to assess potential damages.

In Hamadan Province, areas in Kabudrahang were hit by aerial attacks. Political officials confirmed there were no casualties and that all emergency services remain on full alert for potential further incidents.

Hormozgan Province experienced attacks near the city of Sirik at approximately 2:20 AM Wednesday. Local officials confirmed no injuries or damage to residential or commercial infrastructure were reported.

In Sistan and Baluchestan Province, attacks occurred in the Chabahar and Konarak districts. Security officials reported the situation is under control and normal life continues in the region.

East Azerbaijan Province reported an airstrike near Tabriz, with officials emphasizing that no points inside the city were targeted. The explosion sounds heard in the city were attributed to this strike.

Khuzestan Province experienced missile attacks targeting areas around Behbahan and Omidiyeh, with further details to be announced by authorities.

Iran retaliated, hitting US military assets across Jordan and multiple Persian Gulf states. The Islamic Republic’s recent retaliatory responses have inflicted significant casualties on US forces, particularly in Jordan.

The CIA assessment revealed the "dilemma" facing President Trump as a result of the US-Israeli war launched against Iran in February.

Former deputy national intelligence officer Jonathan Panikoff questioned the administration's strategy, telling the Washington Post: "The Trump administration appears to believe that if it keeps hitting Iran harder militarily, Tehran eventually will become more flexible. That assessment is almost certainly incorrect."

The report highlighted that Iran "is unlikely to feel significant impact" despite the heavy US airstrikes.

Earlier intelligence assessments in April cited by CNN indicated that Tehran "maintains significant missile launching capability" despite US-Israeli attacks, with one source stating Iranian forces are "still very much poised to wreak absolute havoc throughout the entire region."
