Quds Force commander: Israel's crimes made 'Islamic resistance stronger than ever'

The commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has congratulated the election of Dr. Khalil al-Hayya as the new head of Hamas’s Political Bureau, and delivered a stinging rebuke to the Zionist regime, saying the Islamic resistance today is stronger than ever.

Brigadier General Esmail Qa’ani stated on Monday that despite the occupying entity’s relentless crimes and assassinations, it has utterly failed to break the Palestinian Islamic resistance.
On the contrary, the Palestinian resistance stands stronger than ever and is marching forward on its honorable path to victory.

“In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,” the message states. “I extend my congratulations on the election of Dr. Khalil al-Hayya as president of Hamas’s Political Bureau to the great personalities within Hamas and to all the mujahideen of this mighty Islamic Resistance movement.”

“By choosing a personality who is a symbol of resistance and martyrdom, they have once again proven their firm insistence on continuing the path of Islamic resistance,” he stated.

“The Zionist regime is forced to accept that despite all the crimes it has committed, it has not only failed to stop the Resistance but the Islamic Resistance today is stronger than ever and will continue its honorable and dignified path,” he noted.

Dr. Khalil al-Hayya is a battle-tested leader from Gaza, respected scholar, and survivor of multiple Zionist assassination attempts. He succeeded the martyred Yahya Sinwar. His election by the resistance movement’s Shura Council is being seen as a powerful affirmation of continuity, resilience, and the unwavering commitment to armed resistance alongside political steadfastness.

Hamas names Khalil al-Hayya as new head of political bureau

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has named Khalil al-Hayya as the new head of its political bureau.

Hayya is the first person elected to the position since Sinwar was martyred in October 2024 while fighting Israeli occupation soldiers.

Sinwar was appointed head of the Hamas political bureau in August 2024, succeeding Ismail Haniyeh, who was assassinated in an Israeli strike on his residence in the Iranian capital Tehran.

The development comes amid the Zionist regime’s ongoing genocidal aggression in Gaza and repeated failed attempts to decapitate the Palestinian leadership. Far from weakening the resistance, these crimes have only galvanized it and reinforced its unity within the broader Axis of resistance.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has always expressed firm and principled support for the Palestinian people and all fronts confronting Zionist occupation and American-backed aggression.

Palestinians characterize the Gaza ceasefire agreement as an “illusion” due to the persistent Israeli military actions, such as shelling, incursions, and the ongoing blockade of crossings, allowing only minimal aid to enter, which has intensified the humanitarian crisis in the coastal region.

According to the latest figures from the Gaza Health Ministry, Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement have killed at least 1,127 Palestinians and wounded more than 3,643 others.

The agreement was reached after two years of a genocidal war launched by Israel on October 7, 2023.

The onslaught has continued in various forms, claiming the lives of over 73,000 people and leaving more than 173,000 wounded, while wreaking havoc on 90% of civilian infrastructure.
