A senior official from the Yemeni Ansarullah resistance movement says the country’s armed forces are on high alert and stand fully prepared to defend their people and the territorial integrity of their homeland.

Mohammad al-Farah, a prominent member of Ansarullah’s political bureau, made the remarks on Saturday following this week's deadly Saudi attacks on Sana’a International Airport.

“Yemeni armed forces are on alert, and the next stage will witness field developments regarding confronting aggressors. We are confident of our victory, and the Saudi regime will have to bear the consequences of its criminal policies towards Yemen,” he said.

He added that the Riyadh regime continues to serve the interests of the United States and the Tel Aviv regime, and uses its political, financial and military power to advance US-Israeli schemes in the region and repress nations that have adopted anti-Israeli stances.

“Saudi Arabia does not treat Yemen as an independent country with the right to make decisions; but rather considers it under its guardianship. Such an approach harms the dignity of the Yemeni nation, and falls within the context of policies of aggression and siege that have been ongoing against our country for years,” Farah wrote in a post published on the social media platform X.

He argued that the Riyadh regime, despite the leading and years-long military and political role it has been playing in the ongoing aggression and siege against Yemen, is trying to abdicate its direct responsibility for the atrocities perpetrated against Yemen.

Farah stated that disregard for the Yemeni people and their rights constitutes an affront to the national dignity of all Yemenis, stressing that the popular and official positions of Yemen in confronting the enemy and breaking the siege reflect the national commitment of Yemenis to their rights and sovereignty.

On Monday, tensions heightened as Saudi Arabia struck Sana’a airport to stop an Iranian aircraft from landing in the Yemeni capital.

The aircraft was carrying a delegation from Ansarullah, who had traveled to Tehran for the farewell and funeral services of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

The aircraft was redirected following the bombing of Sana’a airport and successfully landed in the strategically important port city of Hudaydah.

On March 26, 2015, Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies launched a blockade on Yemen, marking the beginning of a comprehensive war, supported militarily, politically, and logistically by the United States and various Western nations.

The war has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of Yemenis, while persistently failing to achieve its primary goal of reinstating Yemen's previous regime that was aligned with Riyadh.

After a tenuous ceasefire brokered by the UN in 2022, the United States, Britain, and the Israeli regime launched multiple extensive assaults on Yemen. The attacks aimed to undermine Sana’a's ability to conduct solidarity strikes against Israeli targets in retaliation for Tel Aviv's war of genocide in the Gaza Strip.
