Ayatollah Khamenei’s martyrdom inspired Muslims in pursuit of unity: Pezeshkian

President Masoud Pezeshkian addresses the International Conference of Imam Khamenei, the Eternal Leader of Resistance, in Tehran, July 4, 2026.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and his martyrdom have inspired Muslims worldwide in their pursuit of unity.

Pezeshkian made the remarks on Saturday in an address to the International Conference of Imam Khamenei, the Eternal Leader of Resistance.

He said that Ayatollah Khamenei had always highlighted Muslim unity as a key necessity for the Islamic Ummah, spending a significant part of his life elucidating the matter through speeches, essays, and books.

The Iranian president said the late Leader's martyrdom on February 28, the first day of the US-Israeli aggression against Iran, also inspired millions of Muslims around the world in their quest for unity.

"The thought and message of divine leaders do not cease with martyrdom; rather, they remain alive and guide subsequent generations to continue the path of truth, justice, and resistance," Pezeshkian said.

He added that it has become a policy of the enemies of the Islamic world to target and assassinate scientists, elites, and influential figures in order to weaken Muslim nations. He also criticized the international community for remaining silent on such crimes.

"Today, we are witnessing that this [Israeli] regime openly speaks of assassination and elimination of individuals. While international organizations and human rights advocates are expected to prevent such actions, in practice, political and logistical support is being provided to it," the Iranian president said.

Iran began a week of public funerals for Ayatollah Khamenei on Friday, with ceremonies planned in Tehran, the central city of Qom, in Iraq, and in the late Leader's hometown of Mashhad.
