As Iran bids farewell to Martyr Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, an Iranian lawmaker says the martyred Leader's unwavering commitment to resisting Western domination not only strengthened the country across generations but also stands as his most enduring legacy.
Speaking to the Press TV website, Seyyed Ali Yazdikhah, deputy chairman of the Iranian parliament's cultural commission, reflected on the defining legacies of the late Leader, who was assassinated alongside several members of his family in a US-Israeli strike on February 28.
“He was the most distinguished student of Imam Khomeini's school who, following the Imam's path, stood alone against global arrogance,” he said.
Iran is currently holding week-long funeral ceremonies for Ayatollah Khamenei, with millions of mourners as well as foreign dignitaries participating in ceremonies before the commemorations continue in the Iraqi holy cities of Najaf and Karbala.
The burial ceremony will take place in the holy city of Mashhad on Thursday.
According to Yazdikhah, Ayatollah Khamenei not only preserved the legacy of the founder of the Islamic Republic but also expanded and strengthened it by reinforcing Iran's institutions, broadening the country's sources of national power, and deepening public confidence in the Islamic system.
“This service that he rendered to this country, to Islam, to Iran, to the countries of the Axis of Resistance, to the Islamic world and to the oppressed people of the world has had no parallel over the past centuries,” he said.

Yazdikhah also credited Ayatollah Khamenei's guidance with helping shape many of Iran's scientific and technological achievements. He said the late Leader's recommendations served as "a guiding light" for successive Iranian governments.
Where those recommendations were put into practice – particularly in scientific research, knowledge production, military capability, and technological development – Iran made remarkable advances, he said.
He identified the development of indigenous military capabilities as one of Ayatollah Khamenei's most enduring legacies, noting that without adhering to his strategic vision in this field, the country would today have faced "a very grave situation."
Turning to economic policy, Yazdikhah said Ayatollah Khamenei devoted more than a decade to placing the economy at the center of the national agenda by selecting annual themes focused on economic priorities, including domestic investment, strengthening the Iranian workforce, enhancing the competitiveness of Iranian products, boosting national production, and expanding the country's gross domestic product.
At the same time, he praised the country's young scientists, researchers, and innovators for embracing the martyred Leader's vision, saying their efforts helped propel Iran "to the forefront of knowledge in many of the world's most advanced scientific fields."
Yazdikhah also highlighted Iran's intelligence capabilities, describing the country's monitoring of hostile intelligence operations, foreign-backed separatist and terrorist networks, and enemy plots as exceptional by international standards.
For Yazdikhah, however, Ayatollah Khamenei's defining hallmark was his unwavering resistance to what he described as the "global arrogance."

“In the most difficult and most critical circumstances, he spoke as though all the world's military and weapons stockpiles were at our disposal,” he said, attributing that confidence to the Quranic principles that guided the martyred Leader.
Yazdikhah described Ayatollah Khamenei as the foremost figure in confronting the conspiracies of global arrogance against oppressed nations, Muslims and the region, adding, “We know of no alternative to him.”
He said the martyred leader's fearlessness stemmed from his unshakable faith, explaining that “a person who entrusts himself to God and regards martyrdom as his aspiration no longer fears the enemy's threats.”
According to Yazdikhah, Ayatollah Khamenei strengthened Iran, inspired a stronger anti-imperialist spirit among the public and increased awareness across generations about enemy conspiracies.
“He stood alone, fought, elevated the country, multiplied the spirit of resistance against global arrogance among our people and charted a path in which lies our prosperity in this world and the hereafter,” he said.
The lawmaker added that future generations would remain indebted to Ayatollah Khamenei's courage, steadfastness, powerful rhetoric and his chivalrous, faithful and anti-imperialist spirit in confronting global arrogance.
