Iran will give 'swift, crushing' response to any US violation of MoU: Leader’s advisor

A senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution has warned that any violation of a recently-signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Iran and the United States will trigger a “swift and crushing” response.

In a post on his X account on Saturday, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, a former commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), said the US had already violated multiple provisions of the war-ending Islamabad MoU.

He added that Washington violated the first clause of the memorandum by supporting the actions of its proxy forces in the region, referring to Israel's attacks on Lebanon, and breached the fifth clause by continuing to create tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.

"The response to the violation of any clause of the memorandum will be swift and crushing," Rezaei reiterated.

The warning comes amid disagreements over implementation of the MoU that ended the war against the Islamic Republic.

In a statement on Friday night, the US Central Command announced that it had carried out strikes against what it claimed to be Iranian missile and drone storage sites and coastal radar positions in response to the Iranian Armed Forces’ attack against a vessel passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

The IRGC conducted retaliatory strikes hours later, targeting American military targets in the region.

The US assaults came more than a week after Tehran and Washington signed a 14-point Islamabad memorandum of understanding to end US-Israeli wars on all fronts, including Lebanon, lift US sanctions, remove the US naval blockade on Iran, and restore commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days.
