Iran's defense capabilities more powerful than at start of latest US-Israeli war: Armed forces spokesman

Iranian missiles are being launched to strike designated targets during the US-Israeli war of aggression against the country.

A senior Iranian military spokesman says the Islamic Republic is now militarily stronger than it was at the outset of the latest US-Israeli-imposed war, dismissing enemy claims about weakened air defenses and depleted missile capabilities.

Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, the spokesman for Iran's Armed Forces, rejected claims by the United States and its allies that Iranian air defense systems have been destroyed and the country's defensive capabilities significantly weakened.

In remarks on Thursday, he urged the public to focus on realities on the battlefield rather than enemy narratives, saying the opposing side has repeatedly claimed that Iran suffered damage but ignored the far greater losses inflicted by Iranian forces on American targets.

“We replenish our capabilities even in the midst of an imposed war, something we proved during the third imposed war, demonstrating that our power today is far greater than it was during the 12-day imposed war” back in June last year, Brigadier General Shekarchi stressed, referring to the continued strengthening of the country's military capabilities despite ongoing threats and hostilities.

The senior commander also dismissed unfounded claims that Iran's missile stockpiles have been substantially reduced.

“The enemy's goal is to extract information from us. We have always said that we are prepared, and the enemy has experienced this preparedness on the battlefield. If our hands are empty, then what are these losses they are witnessing? Just last night, we powerfully targeted American bases,” General Shekarchi added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the senior commander reaffirmed the Islamic Republic's support for Lebanon's Hezbollah resistance movement in the face of the criminal Zionist regime.

“According to the guidance of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the Resistance Front is an integrated entity, and all of us form a united front against global hegemony and the wicked Zionist regime,” he stressed.

Addressing the possibility of measures involving the Bab al‑Mandab Strait, General Shekarchi said Iran has numerous options available and would act when necessary.

“We have many plans, and if necessary, we will reveal our cards one by one,” he noted.

Iran had previously warned the US and its allies against resorting to military adventurism, a warning issued amid a stalemate over negotiations to end the third imposed war.

The third war of aggression against Iran was launched by the US‑Israeli coalition on February 28, prompting Iran to respond forcefully by targeting US bases across the region.
