Iran will deliver 'decisive, painful response' to Israeli strike on Beirut: MP

Iranian missiles are seen being launched to strike designated targets during US-Israeli aggression against the country.

A senior Iranian lawmaker says the country’s Armed Forces will carry out a “decisive and painful response” to Israel’s attack on Beirut’s southern suburbs.

Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesman for the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, made the remarks in a post on X following Israeli strikes on Dahiyeh in Beirut.

“We will deliver a decisive and painful response to the Zionist regime’s attack on Dahiyeh,” Rezaei wrote.

“These rabid dogs must be disciplined and put back in their place,” he said. “Watch the skies over the occupied territories tonight,” he added.

Meanwhile, Israel’s Channel 14 reported that the regime’s forces have been put on high alert amid heightened tensions.

The Israeli regime bombed Dahiyeh earlier on Sunday despite US President Donald Trump’s earlier warning that such strikes could provoke an Iranian response and derail diplomatic efforts to end the war.

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu had ordered the military to resume bombing Beirut last week, but he halted the order after Trump warned him against any airstrike on Beirut as Tehran made clear that a ceasefire in Lebanon is inseparable from any final agreement with Washington.

Israeli media, however, reported that Tel Aviv informed Washington of the Sunday strike before it took place.

Earlier Trump had in an interview said that he was not demanding that Lebanon be a part of an agreement with Tehran.
