Hezbollah: Israeli attack on Lebanese army exposes Beirut's disregard for national sovereignty
The Hezbollah resistance movement has condemned the “sinful Israeli aggression” against a Lebanese Army vehicle in southern Lebanon, which resulted in martyrdom of three military personnel, including two officers.
“The cowardly and criminal attack perpetrated by the Zionist enemy against a military vehicle belonging to our national army, resulting in the martyrdom of two officers and a soldier, is a premeditated and deliberate crime," the media bureau of Hezbollah said in a statement on Saturday.
The Lebanese resistance group noted that the attack adds to a “long series of Israeli violations against the Lebanese nation, particularly in the South and the Western Bekaa.”
“The attack is a natural consequence of the authorities’ disregard for the country’s sovereignty and the lives of its people, their gratuitous concessions, and most recently their complete capitulation to the enemy’s demands in Washington, which has emboldened them to shed the blood of our people and our army,” the statement read.
Hezbollah extended its deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs and to the entire military institution, its leadership, officers, and soldiers.
“We condemn this heinous aggression and reaffirm our unwavering support for our national army,” the statement concluded.
Earlier in the day, a brigadier general and a captain, as well as a soldier were martyred after an Israeli strike targeted their military vehicle on al-Khardali road in southern Lebanon.
In a separate attack, Lebanon's state-run National News Agency reported that six people were killed and four others injured after an Israeli airstrike targeted the town of Saksakiyeh in the Sidon district of southern Lebanon.
Another person was killed in a drone strike targeting a car on the highway in Deir al-Zahrani in Nabatieh, it added.
The Israeli army continues its attacks on Lebanon despite a fragile ceasefire with Lebanon.
