A senior adviser on international affairs to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution has dismissed the United States’ latest threats, stressing that regional corridor dynamics are shaped by Iran’s realities on the ground, not by Washington’s rhetoric.

In a post on X on Thursday, Ali Akbar Velayati said US President Donald Trump “is trapped in the paradox of ‘daily threats against Iran’ and ‘angry American gas station customers.’”

He noted that Trump needs market stability and lower energy prices to contain domestic inflation.

“At the same time, shifting calculations in the Caucasus and the fading of the imposed term ‘Trump Corridor’ (Zangezur) showed that regional corridor dynamics are now shaped not by Washington’s threats, but by Tehran’s realities on the ground,” Velayati said.

Velayati has previously described the proposed Zangezur Corridor as a geopolitical scheme led by the US and the Israeli regime to undermine Iran’s national security and strategic ties.

He said Iran’s adversaries, particularly global Zionism and the United States, have long been unsettled by Iran’s historic unity and deep cultural connections across the region.

“These actors seek to weaken the foundations of Iranian identity as a means to harm the country’s national security,” he stated.

Velayati added that projects like the Zangezur Corridor serve as a cover for broader geopolitical agendas.

He warned that the primary US-Israeli objective is to weaken the resistance axis, cut Iran’s connection to the Caucasus, and impose a land blockade on both Iran and Russia in the region’s south.
