Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has reiterated Iran's firm support for legitimate resistance in Lebanon in the face of Israeli aggression and occupation.
The top diplomat made the remarks in a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan on Tuesday.
Araghchi made the remarks in the context of the Israeli regime's intensified aggression targeting Lebanon that has claimed the lives of hundreds of people, including women and children, over consecutive days starting on Wednesday.
Lebanon's Hezbollah resistance movement has responded decisively to the attacks by launching scores of retaliatory strikes against Israeli military targets and illegal settlements lying on the northern side of the occupied territories.

The Islamic Republic has identified cessation of the escalation, part of the regime's constant breaches of a 2024 ceasefire with Hezbollah, as a key precondition to realization of ceasefire in the region.
The Iranian foreign minister also noted the regime's and the United States' latest bout of unprovoked aggression against the Islamic Republic, which began on February 28. The attacks lasted until the announcement of a two-week lull by US President Donald Trump on April 8, which came after Iranian Armed Forces faced the aggressors with at least 99 waves of resolute reprisal.
Araghchi called the atrocities carried out by Tel Aviv and Washington "a blatant crime against global peace and security."
He emphasized the responsibility of all governments and the United Nations to hold the aggressors accountable and to prosecute and punish those who planned and carried out the crimes.
For his part, Fidan underlined his country’s support for existing initiatives aimed at ending Israeli-American aggression across the entire region.

He also called on all parties to remain vigilant against the Zionist regime’s schemes to perpetuate insecurity and normalize lawlessness and crimes in the region.
