London police say they have arrested 523 people at a protest opposing Britain's ban on Palestine Action.
In a post published on X on Saturday, London's Metropolitan Police said they had arrested people at a protest in London's Trafalgar Square for showing support for a "proscribed organization."
The gathering was the first since London's High Court ruled in February that a ban designating the pro-Palestinian group as a terrorist organization was unlawful.
The British Minister of Interior Affairs Shabana Mahmood has been granted approval to appeal the ruling.
Lawmakers banned Palestine Action, which says Britain's government is complicit in Israeli war crimes in Gaza, under anti-terrorism legislation last July after several members broke into a Royal Air Force (RAF) base.
More than 2,700 people have been arrested and hundreds charged over rallies in support of the group, according to protest organizers Defend Our Juries.
During Saturday's demonstration, placard-holding protesters, some wearing black and white Palestinian scarves and waving Palestinian flags, sat on the ground or on camping chairs.
Furthermore, on Monday, the police arrested seven members of the group outside the Lakenheath airbase for protesting the use of the base as a departure point for US aircraft involved in the US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran.
The Lakenheath Alliance for Peace, which organized the protest, said the seven had been arrested wearing clothing with the message: “We oppose genocide, we support Palestine Action.”
Since the Israeli regime launched its genocidal war on Gaza, it has killed more than 72,000 Palestinians and wounded more than 171,000, most of them women and children.
