Two MKO members executed for acts of terror during Iran’s January riots

Two members of the terrorist Mujahedeen-e Khalq Organization (MKO) were executed for acts of terror during Iran's foreign-instigated riots in January.

Two members of the terrorist Mujahedeen-e Khalq Organization (MKO) were executed for active involvement in acts of terror and attempts to murder police forces during the foreign-instigated riots in January across Iran.

The death sentences of Akbar Daneshvarkar and Mohammad Taghavi-Sangdehi were carried out on Monday morning after their conviction was confirmed by Iran's Supreme Court and finalized through the legal process.

According to the case files, the convicts were recruited by the MKO through the Telegram messaging application, carried out acts of terror and attempted to murder police forces.

Based on existing documents, evidence, and his explicit confession, Taghavi-Sangdehi formed a terror cell in a bid to undermine Iran's national security, surveyed and identified the country's sensitive facilities, and conducted operations against state institutions.

Funded by the notorious anti-Iran terrorist group, he set up terror teams.

This is while Daneshvarkar actively took part in anti-establishment riots, and even at times sought to murder servicemen from the law enforcement forces.

Iranian security forces confiscated improvised launchers, explosive devices, and flammable liquids from his hideout.

MKO members spent many years in Iraq, where they were hosted and armed by the slain dictator Saddam Hussein.

They sided with Saddam during the 1980-88 imposed war against Iran and then helped him suppress domestic uprisings in various parts of the Arab nation.

The terrorist organization is responsible for killing thousands of Iranians, most of them civilians, in different acts of terror, including bombings in public places as well as targeted killings, after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
