Iraqi Sunni clerics pledge allegiance to new leader of Islamic revolution
Iraqi Sunni clerics have pledged unwavering allegiance to Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the third Leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution amid the US-Israeli onslaught against the country.
"The resilience of the Iranian nation constitutes a redefinition of dignity. We wholeheartedly and vociferously throw our weight behind you," Sheikh Khalid Abdulwahhab, Chairman of Iraq's Sunni Scholars Society, wrote in a message released on Tuesday, expressing confidence in the ultimate victory promised by God.
He voiced firm belief that the Iranian nation, under the leadership of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, is confronting the world's arrogant powers, led by the Israeli regime and the United States, on behalf of the entire Muslim world.
He underscored that the Islamic Republic of Iran has roundly dispelled Israel's myth of invincibility and restored Muslims' honor and identity.
Sheikh Abdulwahhab finally stated that Iraqi Sunni clerics express solidarity with Iran following the martyrdom of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and will do so to the fullest extent.
The US and Israel initiated a large-scale and unprovoked military campaign against Iran on February 28, assassinating the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and several high-ranking military commanders despite indirect Tehran-Washington negotiations over Iran's peaceful nuclear program.
Within the framework of their legitimate response, Iranian Armed Forces immediately launched forceful retaliatory missile and drone operations against US interests across West Asia and Israeli positions in the occupied territories.
Following the martyrdom of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, who had led Iran for 37 years since the 1989 demise of the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, the Assembly of Experts elected Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the third Leader of the Islamic Revolution on March 9.
