Iran’s ambassador to the United Kingdom and permanent representative to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Ali Mousavi in an interview with Xinhua on Sunday stated that passing through the Strait of Hormuz is possible after making the necessary security arrangement with Iran.

International commitments must be respected along with Iran’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, he added.

Mousavi emphasized that Iran is ready for cooperation with the IMO and the international community to increase the safety of shipping lanes and sailors.

However, he said, the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz is the result of the US-Israeli aggression against Iran.

While diplomacy has always been Iran’s priority in solving international crises, putting an end to the aggression is more important to the Iranian nation, he highlighted.

The US and Israel started a fresh round of air raids on Iran on February 28, some eight months after they waged a war of aggression against the country.

Iran immediately began to retaliate by launching barrages of missile and drone attacks on the Israeli-occupied territories as well as on US bases and interests in regional countries.
