Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says the “valuable” election of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei as new Leader of the Islamic Revolution is a manifestation of the people's will for governance.
“The country's problems can be solved with his wise leadership and by creating an atmosphere based on trust and participation of the people,” Pezeshkian said in a post on his X account on Monday.
He wished success for the new Leader in preserving the sacred unity and building a progressive and independent Iran.
The 88-member Assembly of Experts on Sunday elected Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the successor to his late father Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, who was assassinated in a US-Israeli terrorist strike on Tehran on February 28-- the first day of the ongoing military aggression against Iran.
In a message earlier on Monday, Pezeshkian felicitated Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei following his election as the new Leader, saying his appointment heralded "a new era of honor and authority for the Iranian nation."
The Iranian president called the election "the embodiment of the will of the Islamic Ummah in strengthening national unity," describing this unity as "an impregnable fortress" that makes the Iranian nation resilient against adversarial plots.
Iranian officials, state institutions, armed forces, and people from across the country pledged allegiance to Ayatollah Khamenei on Monday.
