Iran has dismantled a Takfiri terrorist network affiliated with foreign spy agencies in the country’s southeast, arresting eight members and killing three others.
In a joint operation by Iranian intelligence forces, the Quds Base of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force, and law enforcement forces, eight terrorists operating along the southeastern border were taken into custody.
Three other members of the network, affiliated with foreign spy agencies, were killed during ensuing clashes with the security forces.
All those arrested or killed were foreign nationals, according to Iranian authorities.
During the operation, security forces recovered a large arsenal of weapons from the terrorists’ hideouts, including an RPG-7, an American M4 rifle fitted with a night-vision scope, multiple Kalashnikov rifles equipped with grenade launchers, several handguns with ammunition and supplies, weapon silencers, license plates from stolen vehicles, and two passenger cars prepared for use in attacks.
The detainees also confessed to carrying out an earlier assault on security forces at a checkpoint in Fahraj County in Kerman Province, which killed three officers and one civilian on December 15.
