Gaza’s Health Ministry has warned that the few hospitals still operating in the war-ravaged territory are overwhelmed, leaving thousands of patients and wounded waiting for care as medical facilities struggle to provide services.

On Saturday, the health ministry declared in a statement that hospitals in Gaza are nearly completely overwhelmed and unable to deliver medical services, leaving the most at-risk people in a precarious position regarding their health.

“The impacts of the ‘health genocide’ have produced a catastrophic reality in Gaza, where sustaining medical services has become nothing short of a daily miracle. This dire situation presents a grave obstacle to any attempt at recovery or the restoration of specialized services, which have long been disrupted by war and blockade,” the statement read.

The health ministry highlighted that there is a total lack of stock for 46 percent of essential medications, while 66 percent of medical supplies are depleted, and 84 percent of materials needed for laboratories and blood banks are also unavailable.

The ministry highlighted that hospital units such as oncology, surgery, intensive care, and primary healthcare are experiencing significant impacts, worsening the distress faced by patients and driving the healthcare system closer to a complete breakdown.

It stated that the small amounts of medicine arriving at hospitals in Gaza are insufficient to fulfill the essential requirements for maintaining basic health services.

The ministry cautioned that reliance on short-term emergency solutions would not protect the health system; rather, it would result in more severe outcomes in both the immediate and distant future.

According to eyewitnesses, various locations to the east of Gaza City and the town of Jabalia in northern Gaza were targeted by Israeli artillery on Saturday.

Moreover, demolition activities were conducted by Israeli forces to the east of Khan Younis in the southern part of the territory.

The Israeli genocidal war has killed nearly 72,000 Palestinians, wounded more than 171,000 others, and devastated about 90% of Gaza’s infrastructure since October 2023.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, the Israeli army has continued to violate the ceasefire, resulting in the deaths of 574 Palestinians and injuring 1,518 more since it came into effect last October.
