Israel ongoing genocide
Hamas says Israel is continuing its genocidal war and siege on Gaza "under the cover of meetings and talk of peace." Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem says the regime has intensified bombing, destroyed homes, and made incursions leading to more casualties and displacement. He called this proof of ongoing genocide before the world's eyes. The movement urged all parties speaking of peace to exert real pressure on Israel to halt the war, lift the siege, and implement the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement. This as the Israeli military says it has found the remains of the last Israeli captive. Hamas had handed all its information on the body's likely location to ceasefire mediators, while Israel had insisted the next phase of the truce would not begin until the body was found.
Hezbollah supports Iran
The leader of Hezbollah has vowed the group will never surrender and will always stand with the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the leader of the Islamic Revolution. Sheikh Naim Qassem stated that when the US President threatens Ayatollah Khamenei, he is threatening tens of millions of Muslims worldwide who consider him as their religious authority. He slammed the West’s hypocrisy concerning the rights of the Iranians. Qassem reaffirmed Iran's right to a peaceful nuclear program and to support the oppressed, which is what the US denies. He said international mediators have asked if Hezbollah would stay out of a US-Israeli strike on Iran. Qassem's response was that the group will not be neutral and its method of intervention would be chosen based on the circumstances on the battlefield. The Hezbollah chief made the remarks during a large gathering in solidarity with Iran.
Calls for abolition of ICE
US presidential candidate Dr. Jill Stein has called for the abolition of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE). This, amid growing pressure of probe into the killing of two American citizens by federal agents in Minnesota. Stein says ICE had no reason to shoot an ICU nurse, describing the agency as a rogue force that hires psychopaths. Federal agents have shot and killed 37-year-old nurse Alex Pretti in Minneapolis during an immigration enforcement operation, the second such fatal shooting by federal officers in the city in recent weeks. Pretti’s killing has intensified pressure on the Trump administration to launch a full investigation. A poll conducted hours after the shooting found 46% of Americans support abolishing ICE. A federal judge is also set to hear arguments on whether to temporarily halt immigration crackdown in Minnesota linked to the deadly incidents. This as new footage has surfaced of another protester being injured at an anti-ice event.
