Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson has sharply denounced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for spreading decades of lies and propaganda about Iran’s nuclear program, after CNN compiled his repeated allegations in a recent show.

“These are lies and propaganda. CNN compiles 3 decades of Netanyahu's continuing false claims about Iran's nuclear program, each time warning that Iran was very close to developing a nuclear bomb,” Ismail Baghaei wrote In a post published on the social media platform X on Wednesday.

“This is 'mythomania',” he added.

The video, aired by CNN on Tuesday, strings together Netanyahu’s repeated baseless claims since 1996 about Iran’s nuclear activities, portraying Tehran as an imminent threat.

The broadcast comes as during a joint press conference with Netanyahu on Monday, US President Donald Trump brazenly spoke about military action, warning that the US would strike Iran’s missile capabilities and nuclear facilities if Tehran rebuilt its defenses.

“Now I hear that Iran is trying to build up again, and if they are, we are going to have to knock them down. We will knock them down. We will knock the hell out of them,” Trump said.

Iranian officials dismissed the remarks as reckless and inflammatory, warning that such language only fuels instability.

President Masoud Pezeshkian issued a firm rebuttal to Trump’s latest threat of renewed strikes against the country, vowing that any further aggression will be met with a crushing and "regret-inducing" response.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Washington would carry full responsibility for any act of aggression against Iran.

In a letter sent to his counterparts around the world on Tuesday, Araghchi referred to the consequences of the unlawful Israeli-American assault on Iran in June and cautioned that any renewed violation “will rest squarely with the US.”

He emphasized that the Islamic Republic “will not hesitate to respond in a decisive and regret-inducing manner to any act of aggression,” underscoring Iran’s readiness to defend its sovereignty in the face of US threats, and Israeli militarism.

The US joined the Israeli military aggression against Iran in June, striking three nuclear sites in the country, justifying the aggression by repeating unverified claims that Iran could develop nuclear weapons within two months.
