Belqeis city, one of Iran’s most mysterious historical sites, holds the fading echoes of a once-splendid past.
Today little has remained from the city which was once known for its splendor and the treasures hidden under its surface and the thick adobe walls of its buildings. The city's fortress, which is partially restored, has many stories to tell from the attack of Arab and Mongol conquerors to the revival of Belqeis after each invasion.
