US embassy takeover anniv.

Thousands of people across Iran have thronged the streets to mark the anniversary of the takeover of the US Embassy in Tehran by Iranian university students in 1979. In the capital Tehran, protesters began their march from the Palestine square toward the former US embassy which is known in Iran as the Den of Espionage. Demonstrators chanted slogans against the US, global arrogance and Israel. Rasht, Isfahan, Shiraz and many other cities were also scenes of massive rallies. The takeover of the US embassy took place on November the 4th in 1979, months after the victory of the Islamic Republic. The university students who seized the embassy regarded it as a center for planning US plots against Iran and inference in the country. The students later published documents proving that the embassy was indeed engaged in plans and measures to overthrow the Islamic Establishment.

Sydney anti-Israel protest

Australian police in Sydney have clashed with pro-Palestine demonstrators who gathered outside a defense exposition to protest against the participation of Israeli weapons companies. Police used pepper spray on protesters attempting to breach metal barricades outside the Indo Pacific International Maritime Exposition. Around 13 people were arrested during the demonstration. The protesters chanted slogans such as “Long live Gaza” and “Hands off the West Bank.” The protest was organized by a rights group called the Palestine Action Group. The group organizers condemned the police’s use of force against the demonstrators. Several Israeli arms companies, including Elbit Systems and Rafael, attended the expo. These companies have faced international criticism for their complicity in Israel’s war crimes in Gaza.
