The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has outlined its key conditions in the ongoing ceasefire negotiations in Egypt, saying it seeks to “overcome all obstacles” in order to reach an agreement that meets the aspirations of the people in the Gaza Strip.

Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum made the remarks in a press release on Tuesday, following the resumption of talks on a US-backed Gaza ceasefire plan in Egypt.

He said the demands outlined by Hamas include a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire, a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, unrestricted entry of humanitarian and relief aid, the return of displaced people to their homes, and a fair prisoner exchange deal.

Barhoum accused Benjamin Netanyahu of deliberately seeking to “obstruct and thwart” the current round of negotiations, as well as all previous rounds.

He said the Israeli campaign of genocide not only targeted the resistance but also the entire Palestinian existence, holding Netanyahu's regime and the United States fully responsible for the crimes in Gaza.

Barhoum also stated that despite the extensive military force, unwavering support, and full American partnership in the war in Gaza, the aggressors have not and will not succeed in creating a false image of victory.

On October 6, delegations from Israel and Hamas began indirect negotiations at the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on US President Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza.

The discussions will focus on Trump’s 20-point Gaza plan, which the Tel Aviv regime has agreed to and Hamas has partly accepted.

Expected among the sticking points in the ongoing talks are demands that the occupying regime fully withdraw from the Gaza Strip and Hamas surrender its weapons.

Israel unleashed its brutal Gaza onslaught on October 7, 2023, after Hamas carried out its historic operation against the usurping entity in retaliation for the regime’s intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

The Tel Aviv regime has so far failed to achieve its declared objectives of eliminating Hamas and freeing all captives in Gaza, despite killing, according to the health ministry of Gaza, 67,160 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring 169,679 others.

Mass starvation has also gripped Gaza as Israel prevents the entry of humanitarian aid to the besieged territory.
