Israel attacks Sumud flotilla

The Global Sumud Flotilla, which is en route to Gaza, says several of its vessels have been attacked by the Israeli military while sailing in international waters. The humanitarian aid mission said at least three of its ships, namely Alma, Sirius, and Adara, have been intercepted and boarded by Israeli forces, and contact with their crews has been lost. It said the regime’s troops damaged communication equipment on the vessels prior to the interception, in an effort to block distress signals and disrupt live-stream coverage of the mission. Activists said the Israeli navy forces have used active agression on the flotilla, ramming the Florida vessel at sea. Yulara, Meteque and other boats were also targeted with water cannons. They condemned Israel's illegal attacks on unarmed humanitarian ships as a war crime. The flotilla said in another statement that Israel's attack is a brazen act of desperation, which proves the extreme lengths to which the regime will go to ensure Gaza remains starved and isolated. The flotilla urged the international community to pressure Israel to release the ships and their crews.

US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

The Israeli genocide rages on across the besieged Gaza Strip, with more civilians losing their lives in the regime’s indiscriminate air and artillery strikes. More than 70 Palestinian were killed in Wednesday attacks. One of the deadliest strikes, killed nine civilians after a family home was bombed east of Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza. Israeli forces also shelled a gathering of displaced persons in central Gaza, killing four Palestinians, including two children and a woman. Several civilians were killed and more than a dozen others injured in the regime’s shelling of Gaza City’s Al-Shati Refugee Camp. Medical sources say hospitals in Gaza City are operating at a minimum capacity, due to the closure of Al-Rasheed Street, which prevents the entry of medicine into the city. Meanwhile, two more Palestinians, including a child, died of hunger, increasing the number of starvation deaths to 455, including 151 children. The death toll from the Israeli genocide is near 66,150, with more than 168,700 others injured.

Russia rejects Iran sanctions

Russia has once again rejected the re-instatement of expired UN sanctions on Iran, following the activation of the so-called snapback mechanism by the European troika. Russia’s UN Ambassador Vasily Nebenzya said Moscow will not recognize the snapback. Nebenzya made the comments when asked whether Moscow would enforce the sanctions, during a presser marking the beginning of Russia's presidency of the UN Security Council for October. Last week, the UN Security Council rejected a last-minute effort backed by Russia and China to delay the re-imposition of sanctions on Iran for six months. The UK, France, and Germany triggered the snapback on August the 28th, accusing Iran of violating the 2015 nuclear deal. Tehran has time and again dismissed West’s allegations over its peaceful nuclear program. The E3's move to re-instate sanctions was met with strong rejection from Tehran, which warned of a harsh response.
