UK sent over 100,000 bullets to Israel in August amid Gaza genocide: Report

(File) Protesters gather in front of the British consulate in al-Quds to protest against the UK’s continued sale of arms to Israel.

Britain sent a total of 110,000 bullets to Israel in a single month, despite calls for the government to halt arms sales to the regime, a new investigation has found.

British public broadcaster Channel 4 reported that the shipment, valued at nearly $27,000, was sent to Israel in August. The items in the shipment were categorized as “bullets” according to Israel’s customs codebook.

The shipment is part of a broader surge in UK arms exports to Israel, with total shipments in August exceeding $187,000—the second-largest monthly total since January 2022.

Other shipments that month included parts for tanks, components for shotguns and rifles, and a broad “other” category covering projectiles, explosives, and ammunition.

“Our analysis of Israeli Tax Authority figures shows munitions worth around £400,000 arriving from the UK in June 2025—the highest amount in a single month since records became available over three years ago,” the broadcaster said.

Last September, the British government suspended 30 out of 350 arms export licenses after identifying a clear risk of "violations of international humanitarian law."

However, a report by the Palestinian Youth Movement, Progressive International, and Workers for a Free Palestine revealed earlier this year that the British government had continued to export military items to Israel despite the suspension.

According to the report, the UK shipped 8,630 separate munitions since the suspensions took effect, all categorized under “Bombs, Grenades, Torpedoes, Mines, Missiles, and Similar Munitions of War and Parts Thereof—Other.”

The UK has faced criticism for supplying arms to Israel, even after a United Nations commission of inquiry confirmed on September 16 that the regime has committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
