President Xi Jinping and other leaders of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the state present flower baskets at the Monument to the People's Heroes at the Tian'anmen Square in Beijing, paying their tribute to fallen national heroes.
The tribute-paying ceremony was held to mark China's 12th Martyrs' Day, observed one day prior to National Day.
Xi, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, was joined by representatives from all walks of life.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
