US-Israeli Gaza genocide
Over two dozen Palestinians, including aid seekers, have been killed in Gaza, as Israel pushes ahead with its genocidal campaign in the besieged strip. An Israeli airstrike on a gathering of residents in al-Ramal neighborhood, west of Gaza City, killed six people. Fatalities were also reported after refugee camps in central Gaza were targeted. In a matter of 24 hours, 83 Palestinians have lost their lives in Israeli attacks across the Palestinian territory. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, over 65,500 Palestinians have been killed and more than 167,300 others injured since the beginning of the genocidal war in October 2023.
Global Sumud flotilla
A Spanish navy vessel has set sail to join Italy in assisting the Global Sumud Flotilla that is en route to Gaza with the aim of breaking Israel’s siege of the Palestinian territory. The Spanish ship has departed the Cartagena harbor. The deployment comes after Italy dispatched a naval frigate to assist the Sumud Flotilla, with the Italian defense minister hailing the move as an act of humanity. Sending support vessels comes as the Gaza-bound flotilla reported on Wednesday that it came under another drone attack. International lawyers and activists are on board the flotilla boats. Among them is Swedish climate campaigner Greta Thunberg, who says she is not scared of Israel.
Russia-Ukraine war
The Russian Foreign Minister has taken a swipe at NATO and the European Union for declaring a real war with Moscow and directly participating in the Ukraine conflict. Lavrov was speaking at the G20 Foreign Ministers meeting held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. His comments come just days after US President Donald Trump suggested for the first time that Ukraine could win the war and regain land it has lost to Russia. The Kremlin has consistently characterized the Ukraine conflict as a Western proxy war against Russia. It has also repeatedly condemned Western military support for Ukraine.
