The UN Security Council voted down a resolution to permanently lift sanctions on Iran, while Russia and China categorically rejected their reinstatement.
The resolution has cleared the way for snapback sanctions, to be reactivated on September 28 under UN Security Council resolution 2231, set in motion by the European troika (France, Germany, and the United Kingdom), with American backing, falsely accusing Iran of "non-compliance" with the nuclear deal known as the JCPOA.
