US tech billionaire Elon Musk's father, 79-year-old Errol Musk, has been accused of sexually abusing five of his children and stepchildren since 1993, The New York Times reports.
The report by the leading American daily outlined abusive conduct involving a minor, prompting family members to reach out to Elon Musk for help, who has occasionally taken action to intercede.
The allegations uncovered by family members may explain why Tesla CEO Elon Musk rarely mentions his father, as per the report.
According to personal letters, emails, and interviews with family members, Errol Musk, who has at least nine children and stepchildren and has been married to three women, is described as maintaining a powerful grip over much of the family.
Court records, personal correspondence, social workers, and interviews with family members suggest that the earliest accusation against Errol Musk dates back to 1993, when his four-year-old stepdaughter reported that he had touched her at the family house.
Family members have also accused Errol of abusing two of his daughters and a stepson.
The New York Times reported that three separate law enforcement investigations were opened, with two ending without action, while the outcome of the third remains unclear.
Errol Musk has dismissed the allegations as false, accusing family members of putting the children up to say false things, and trying to extort Elon, his eldest son.
Elon Musk has not yet commented on the matter publicly, but in past he has spoken about his difficult relationship with this father.
The allegations are likely to intensify the spotlight on the Musk family, already accustomed to global media attention.
