Slamming the UNSC vote
The UN Security Council has rejected a bid to keep sanctions relief for Iran, paving the way for renewed UN sanctions within days. Iran’s ambassador to the UN, Amir-Saeid Iravani, condemned the move, calling any attempt by the European trio to re-impose sanctions baseless and a direct assault on international law and the Council’s credibility. He emphasized that the 2015 nuclear deal addressed every concern about Tehran’s nuclear program, and that Iran implemented the accord in good faith. He noted that no other nation has ever accepted such extensive IAEA inspections, while the United States failed to honor its own commitments within the deal. The European E3 triggered the snapback process last month, accusing Iran of breaching uranium limits set by the 2015 nuclear deal. Tehran has called the move politically driven and insists its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. If no deal is reached by September 28, international sanctions suspended under the nuclear deal will automatically return.
Hezbollah leader's speech
Hezbollah's Secretary General has warned that pressuring the resistance will only benefit Israel, and its elimination would leave regional nations vulnerable. Sheikh Naim Qassem made the remark during a ceremony marking the first Martyrdom anniversary of the senior Hezbollah commander, Ibrahim Aqeel, and his comrades, who were assassinated by Israel in Beirut. He warned that the regime's prime minister is pursuing an expansionist vision for a Greater Israel, which aims to redraw the map of the region. Naim Qassem pointed to recent Israeli strikes, including one on Qatar, as exposing the regime’s inevitable project and sending a clear message to regional nations. He stressed that Hezbollah's weapons are aimed solely at Israel, not any other nation. He reaffirmed that the Lebanese resistance movement will not lay down arms.
US-Israeli genocide in Gaza
The Israeli regime has launched new strikes on the Gaza Strip, with Gaza City being the main target of the latest attacks as the regime continues with its genocidal war. The regime attacked Gaza City using tanks, fighter jets, and drones. Three Palestinians were killed in an Israeli strike that targeted a group of civilians there. Witnesses say regime forces are mobilizing near the heart of Gaza City. Israeli jets also attacked Rafah and Khan Younis. This comes amid a worsening humanitarian crisis in the besieged territory. The Gaza Health Ministry recorded four new deaths from famine and malnutrition, including one child. The death toll from the US-Israeli genocide since October 2023 stands at over 65,100.
