Iran-Belarus relations

Iran and Belarus have signed a dozen memoranda of understanding as well as a joint statement aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation. The documents were signed during a meeting between visiting Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko in the capital Minsk. The MOUs covered a range of areas, including economy, tourism, and culture. Earlier, during talks with his Belarusian counterpart, Pezeshkian criticized unilateralism by the United States, saying it seeks to dominate independent countries. He added that Western sanctions can be effectively neutralized through mutual cooperation between nations. The Iranian president also said the two countries can align their positions within key international organizations, including the Eurasian Economic Union, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and BRICS. Pezeshkian arrived in the Belarusian capital after concluding his visit to Armenia.

Genocide in Gaza

Israeli forces continue to pound the besieged Gaza Strip with unrelenting air and artillery strikes, killing and injuring more civilians. Over thirty Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since dawn. Ten of those killed were aid seekers who lost their lives in Israeli bombing of the northern Nuseirat camp in central Gaza. The regime's warplanes also targeted a tent for displaced people near the al-Hilal field hospital in the Mawasi area of Khan Yunis, killing and injuring multiple civilians, including children. Three Palestinians, including two kids, were killed by Israel’s artillery fire in the western camp, also in Khan Yunis. The death toll from the Israeli genocide now exceeds 62,000, with more than 156,570 others injured.

US pro-Palestine protests

Pro-Palestine protesters have gathered outside an Israeli consulate in the US city of Houston, demanding accountability over the war on Gaza as well as an end to US support for the Tel Aviv regime. The protest is part of a pro-Palestine encampment named after a journalist who has recently been killed by Israel in Gaza. A video shows police on horseback charging toward the demonstrators outside the Israeli consulate. Officers moved in forcefully, dismantling tents and pushing back protesters who surrounded the building. This comes as pro-Palestine rallies have been ongoing in the US since the genocide began in Gaza. During multiple rallies, American demonstrators have slammed Washington’s complicity in the genocidal war.
