The Gaza Health Ministry reports that psychological trauma affects more than one million children across the besieged Palestinian territory, where Israel continues its relentless military campaign and all-out blockade.

“There are 44,000 orphaned children and more than a million children suffering psychological trauma in Gaza,”  Munir al-Bursh, the ministry's director general, said on Sunday.

He added that approximately 52 percent of essential medications are out of stock, and there is a severe shortage of blood bags, further straining the territory’s already overwhelmed healthcare system.

According to a UN report, one in every five children in Gaza is malnourished.

Philippe Lazzarini, the head of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), recently said that more than 40,000 children had either been killed or injured following Israel's genocidal war and an all-out blockade of Gaza.

At least 57 Palestinians, including 14 aid seekers, were killed and scores were injured since Sunday morning.

During the same period, at least seven people have starved to death, bringing the total number of hunger-related deaths to 258, including 110 children.

Since the start of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023, the death toll has exceeded 61,900, the majority of them women and children.
