US-Israeli Gaza genocide

Death and destruction raging across Gaza as more Palestinians fall victim to indiscriminate and deadly attacks by the Israeli military. In one of the latest strikes, at least four people were killed after an Israeli drone struck a group of Palestinians in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. The Israeli artillery shelling also targeted several parts of Gaza, killing and injuring multiple Palestinians. In central Gaza, several Palestinians were killed after Israeli forces opened fire on aid seekers near a distribution center in the Netzarim corridor. A similar strike near Khan Yunis, southern Gaza, also killed a number of Palestinian aid seekers. Aid centers have been the primary target of Israeli attacks for months, resulting in some one thousand eight hundred fatalities as a result of direct fire. The US-Israeli genocide, which began in October 2023, has so far killed nearly 61,370 Palestinians and left almost 153,000 others injured.

US pro-Israeli bias

A crucial member of the US negotiating team with Hamas has stepped down over special envoy Steve Witkoff’s partiality toward Israel that led to failure of the talks. Bishara Bahbah, who is a Palestinian American, criticized the US and Israel for ending the ceasefire talks prematurely. He said Witkoff disregarded significant progress made with Hamas and sided with the hardline stance of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The former negotiator said Witkoff’s endorsement of the Israeli stance effectively destroyed the chances for a ceasefire agreement. The comments disprove the US envoy’s remarks that Hamas stalled the truce talks. Hamas had stressed that it is keen to reach an agreement that halts the Israeli aggression, but the regime wants an exchange of captives without ending the genocide in Gaza.

Russia-Ukraine war

Russia and Ukraine intensify their strikes against each other with Russia saying that it has successfully downed scores of Ukrainian drones. According to the governor of Russia’s Saratov region, one person was killed after a drone crashed into an apartment building overnight, forcing evacuations. Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry says it has downed over 120 Ukrainian drones, mostly in Krasnodar and Crimea. Recently, Ukraine has escalated long-range drone attacks, striking border regions and deeper Russian targets, including residential areas and infrastructure. Moscow has responded with what it calls high-precision strikes on Ukrainian military-related facilities, maintaining that its operations are never directed at civilians.
