Hezbollah weapons

Hezbollah has slammed the Lebanese government’s latest defense policy shift, calling it a grave sin that serves Israeli interests. The condemnation comes after the Lebanese government tasked the army to devise a plan to establish a state monopoly on arms by the end of the year, a move aimed at disarming Hezbollah. The resistance group said the decision violates the government’s own ministerial statement, which commits to using all necessary means to liberate Lebanese territory from Israeli occupation. Hezbollah argued that the resistance arms are part of these necessary measures. The group further pointed out that move was imposed by US envoy Amos Hochstein and serves Israeli interests, leaving Lebanon vulnerable to aggression. While Hezbollah says it remains open to dialogue and a national defense strategy, it insists this must happen only after Israel ends its aggression.

Genocide and starvation

The genocidal war on Gaza rages on, killing more Palestinians, including those who seek aid. Since dawn today, over 30 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks. In Gaza City, eight people lost their lives and several others were injured when Israeli forces bombed two residential buildings. Earlier, 20 Palestinians were killed and dozens were wounded when an aid truck overturned onto a crowd of people seeking relief in central Gaza. Also, according to medical sources, two more civilians died from malnutrition. The US-Israeli genocide began in October 2023. The death toll since then tops 61,100, with over 151,400 others injured.

US-India tariffs

The United States has slapped India with additional 25% tariffs for buying Russian oil, marking yet another escalation in Donald Trump’s tariff war. Trump issued an executive order, raising total tariffs on Indian imports to a staggering 50%. This places India among the countries imposed with highest tariff rates by the US. According to the executive order, the new rate will take effect 21 days after the order date. New Delhi had previously called Trump's threat "unjustified and unreasonable". In an earlier statement, India’s foreign ministry revealed that US had initially encouraged India to import Russian gas to strengthen stability in global energy markets at the start of the Russia-Ukraine war.
