US anti-Iran sanctions

Iran has condemned the latest sanctions imposed by the United States on Tehran, calling them proof of Washington’s profound hostility towards the Iranian nation. Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaili Baghaei, said the fresh bans are an extension of the inhumane and failed policy of maximum pressure against Iranians. He said US sanctions are not only illegal, but also in blatant violation of the norms and principles of international law. The spokesman said the sanctions are designed to violate the most basic rights of Iranians, but will only boost the determination of the nation to defend its legitimate rights and interests in the face of America’s excessive demands. His remarks came after the US announced new sanctions targeting over 30 individuals and entities it described as part of Iran’s international financial network.

US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

The Israeli regime keeps pounding the Gaza Strip with incessant air and artillery strikes, killing and injuring more civilians across the besieged territory. One of the latest attacks hit a home in Jabalia, northern Gaza, killing six civilians and leaving several others missing under the rubble. The Israeli artillery fire also claimed eight lives in the same area. In a separate attack, several civilians were killed after a tent sheltering displaced people was struck in Deir al-Balah. Over half a dozen people were killed in two Israeli attacks in the southern city of Khan Yunis. According to Gaza’s medical sources, more than 90 civilians were killed in a matter of 24 hours. The death toll from the Israeli genocide is nearing 54,800, with more than 125,800 others injured. The death toll includes nearly 4,500 civilians killed since Israel resumed its aggression on March 18. The regime has also issued fresh evacuation orders for tens of thousands of Palestinians in northern Gaza.

Israeli casualties in Gaza

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing intense criticism over the rising death toll among the regime’s forces in Gaza. Now, former military commanders are condemning his handling of the war. Gadi Eisenkot, a former Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, said the regime’s leadership has failed to achieve anything since October 2023. He emphasized that there is no strategic plan for the battle, and no political or military coordination, and decisions on the Gaza war are made under political pressure. Similarly, Dan Halutz, another former Chief of Staff, said Israeli forces are dying in Gaza “senselessly and without purpose.” Their comments came as Israel has failed to achieve its objectives in Gaza, including securing the release of the captives and dismantling the resistance through force. The rising Israeli casualties have also intensified criticism against Netanyahu. His opponents argue that Netanyahu is prolonging the war to delay his trial over corruption and avoid political downfall.
