Gaza's aid crisis scandal
The promised aid that is supposed to reach Gaza, is not. That, according to a top US official, as famine begins to take hold in the besieged enclave. Officials are warning the amount of food getting in is far short of what is needed to fend off famine. Aid organizations estimate the number of vehicles entering Gaza as a fraction of the pre-genocide figures.
Tel Aviv remains unmoved despite mounting global pressure. US President Joe Biden has expressed his own disquiet and says Netanyahu is not doing enough to increase humanitarian aid into Gaza. Biden had previously warned Netanyahu that future US support depends on a swift implementation of new steps to protect civilians and aid workers. Yet the growing death toll runs contrary to that. The global community is not just sitting idly by, however.
Latin and South American nations are taking up the mantle of pro-Palestine resistance, with countries like Nicaragua and Venezuela at the forefront of the charge. The resistance group, Hamas, are now considering a Qatar, Egypt and US-brokered plan that might bring about a pause in violence, if not a complete cessation.
In the UK, a growing no ceasefire/ no vote movement is also making an impact, hoping to punish politicians who did not put the humanity of Palestinians inside Gaza at the forefront.
