US secret concessions fail to sway Yemen's pro-Palestine operations: Report
The United States has secretly offered “a stunning array of concessions” to Yemen’s Ansarullah movement to halt its anti-Israel naval operations in the Red Sea, according to a report, which says the resistance movement, nevertheless, remained steadfast.
Citing informed Yemeni sources, the online news magazine Cradle reported on Thursday that Washington offered the resistance movement “an acknowledgment of its legitimacy,” in exchange for its neutrality in Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip.
The resistance movement has declared its open support for the people of Palestine since Israel launched its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip in October last year.
Ever since, the Yemeni armed forces have been targeting ships in the Red Sea with owners linked to Israel or those going to and from ports in the occupied territories.
In order to halt the operation, the administration of President Joe Biden made a set of private promises, according to the Cradle, via intermediaries to Ansarallah behind closed doors.
That would involve a “pledged to repair the damages, remove foreign forces from all occupied Yemeni lands and islands, and remove Ansarullah from the State Department’s ‘terrorism list’ – as soon as they stop their attacks in support of Gaza.”
The Biden administration offered to severely reduce the role of the Saudi-backed Presidential Council led by Rashid al-Alimi and pledged to accelerate “the signing of a roadmap with Riyadh and Abu Dhabi to end the aggression against Yemen,” according to the report.
The sources revealed to the magazine that the US offered to Yemen to immediately release withheld its “public sector salaries from the National Saudi Bank, lift the country’s siege entirely, reopen Sanaa Airport, ease restrictions on the port of Hodeidah, and facilitate a comprehensive prisoner exchange agreement with all involved parties.”
Yemen, however, “remained steadfast,” wrote the Cradle.
The US and the United Kingdom have also launched a series of attacks against Yemen as a means of trying to pressure the country into stopping the operations in the Red Seas.
Yemen, however, has constantly said that the country's maritime operations will cease only if the Tel Aviv regime’s crimes against the people of Gaza stop.
