Gazans hold mass funeral for family members killed in Israeli airstrike
Palestinian people in the besieged Gaza Strip have held a mass funeral to bid farewell to 45 members of the same family who lost their lives in an Israeli airstrike on Saturday.
During the ceremony, locals and grieving family members gathered the victims' bodies, marking the aftermath of the incident ahead of the funeral.
"My message to the world, in general, and the Islamic world, in particular, is that these martyrs are civilians, not resistance fighters. This is a war crime against Palestinian people. The Arab and Islamic world as well as the European countries are watching us being slaughtered. We were left alone with only God to help us," said Hatem Khalid Abu Aisha, a local.
He added, "We live in Hamad City, which consists of apartment blocks, [and] we live on the second floor. My brothers-in-law and I were on the ground floor when they (Israelis) bombed the second floor where the martyrs were. There were nearly 45 civilians, including women and children, in addition to the owner of the apartment and his two brothers, a doctor and an engineer, who had nothing to do with the resistance."
Israel waged the war on Gaza on October 7 after the territory's resistance movements carried out the surprise Operation al-Aqsa Storm into the occupied territories in response to the regime’s intensified crimes against Palestinian people.
According to Gaza's Health Ministry, the death toll stands at over 13,000, including more than 5,500 children and 3,500 women.
Some 30,000 Palestinian have also sustained injuries in the war while another 2,700 have been reported missing, believed to be buried under rubble.
