Hundreds of pro-Palestine activists gathered at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport to protest the ongoing war in Gaza and to demand a ceasefire.

Footage shows the demonstrators chanting pro-Palestine slogans and holding banners with the names of children killed in Israeli bombings in Gaza, as well as symbolic representations of injured bodies.

"We are here to protest for free Palestine and to stop the genocide currently happening in Gaza, and we are sitting here inside the airport and we will keep sitting in the train station buildings until our government stop giving weapons to Israel and until our government start fighting for a ceasefire and for free Palestine," said Rose Ykema a protester.

Another protester, Ali Omar said, "The people here are asking for cease the fire, stop killing the innocent kids, innocent children, innocent people who have been forced to abandon their homes and their lives and most of them lost their loved ones".

The protest included a minute of silence in honour of the victims, followed by an ongoing demonstration outside the airport terminal.

Israel declared war on Gaza and a 'complete siege', with a large-scale campaign of air strikes which Palestinian officials reported had killed at least 11,300 people, including more than 8,000 children and women, and left more than 25,000 injured. A ground incursion began at the end of the third week.

Israeli forces claimed that Hamas locations and infrastructure were targeted. However, United Nations experts warned against 'collective punishment' for the people of Gaza, before predicting a 'humanitarian crisis' and then claimed that 'hell is settling in' for the region.
