Israel demolitions 

The Israeli regime keeps demolishing Palestinian homes as part of its land grab policy. According to the UN, Tel Aviv authorities have destroyed 44 homes in the occupied West Bank, including in al-Quds, in the past two weeks alone, about 20 of them without prior notice. As a result of the latest demolitions, dozens of Palestinians have become homeless. Israel routinely destroys Palestinian structures, for lack of permits, that are next to impossible to obtain. It also destroys the homes of Palestinians who are involved in anti-Israel operations. Human rights campaigners call the move a collective punishment. The demolitions are also seen as part of efforts to make room for illegal settlements.

No talks with Biden 

Iranian President, Ebrahim Raeisi, has ruled out the possibility of having a meeting or holding talks with his American counterpart, Joe Biden, during his upcoming trip to New York. Raeisi said there is no difference between the administrations of Joe Biden and his predecessor Donald Trump because Biden has carried out the same policies as the former government. The Iranian president is scheduled to address the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly in the coming days. Back in 2018, Trump launched his so-called maximum pressure campaign against Iran after withdrawing from the 2015 deal, known as the JCPOA and re-imposed anti-Tehran sanctions. Iran says the JCPOA revival hinges on the removal of sanctions and guarantees Washington won't exit the accord again as it did before.

Queen funeral controversy 

The British government is facing a barrage of criticism for inviting Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman to attend Queen Elizabeth’s funeral. The criticism centers around Bin Salman’s role in the murder and dismemberment of dissident Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Khashoggi’s fiancée is calling for Bin Salman to be arrested for murder when he arrives in London. Hatice Cengiz says the Saudi crown prince should be denied the opportunity to seek legitimacy and normalization by attending the Queen’s funeral. Rights campaigners are also citing excessive domestic repression and Saudi Arabia's deadly war against Yemen. The London-based Campaign Against Arms Trade says the occasion gives Bin Salman another chance to whitewash his human rights record. The Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy is echoing similar concerns. The institute has called Bin Salman a notorious Persian Gulf despot, who presides over appalling violations against dissidents.
