Cuba resisting years of sanctions
If we look at history we see that the conflict between Cuba and the US did not begin with the Cuban revolution but goes back to the beginnings of the United States and the Monroe Doctrine which declared the western hemisphere to be America's sphere of influence or "backyard" and that the US would not tolerate foreign powers being present in that region, declaring this mainly to European colonial states which had colonies in the Americas.
