US's destructive presence in Africa

Washington is considering strengthening its military foothold on the African continent, in an apparent bid to counter the growing influence of its strategic rivals, Russia and China.

That has raised concerns, considering America’s track record in countries that house its military bases. With over 20 years of a military presence, the US has not only failed to combat extremists and terrorists, it has been involved in coups and the overthrow of several governments.
