UK PM Party scandales

There has been another twist in a scandal engulfing Prime Minister Boris Johnson. In a U-turn, London's Metropolitan Police say they are investigating several parties that took place at Johnson’s office and other government departments during Covid lockdowns. The Met chief acknowledged deep public concern about allegations of lockdown parties in breach of the government’s own Covid guidelines. The police had previously faced sharp criticism for rejecting calls to look into the claims. The announcement comes shortly after the latest disclosure that an event was held during lockdown to celebrate Johnson’s birthday on June 19th, 2020. A string of such revelations has prompted the worst crisis of Johnson’s premiership and calls from across the political spectrum for him to quit.
