Djokovic's visa canceled: Canberra revokes visa ahead of Australian Open
Novak Djokovic is set to be detained on Saturday after Australia canceled his visa for a second time in a dispute over his right to remain in the country unvaccinated.
In the latest twist in the row over Djokovic's COVID-19 status, Australia’s Immigration Ministry revoked the superstar's visa on Friday for a second time on “health and good order” grounds.
However the Serbian can still launch another legal challenge to remain in Australia. The 9-time Australian Open winner was scheduled to play in the first grand slam of the year which begins on Monday in Melbourne.
The defending champions’ visa was first revoked shortly after his arrival in Melbourne on the 6th of January after Australian border Force officials said he had "failed to provide appropriate evidence" to receive a vaccine exemption.
