UK's Palestine Action wins Israel protest court battle

A legal victory was recorded in England on Monday as a judge found three pro-Palestine activists not guilty of criminal damage.
The three Palestine Action activists, dubbed the "Elbit Three", celebrated the win outside Newcastle-under-Lyme Magistrates Court. The trial, which commenced on Friday third December, saw Elbit Systems and the Crown Prosecution Service attempt to criminalise individuals who protest against the manufacture of Israeli drones.
The products manufactured at the site of the protest, the UAV Engines factory in Staffordshire, are key components for a range of Elbit Systems combat drones, used extensively by Israel for bombardments of Gazan civilians.
Elbit are Israel’s largest private arms company, supplying 85% of Israel’s drone fleet. On this occasion the defendants have not been charged with criminal damage which is exactly what the Prosecution was hoping for but the question is, could the courts end up trying to set deterrents in future cases if direct action continues by these activists against Israeli arms firms dotted around the country? Well even if that is the case its likely these activists would continue their activities despite these risks.
